Life Story of Ken and Onalee November 2005:

It all started in Lynwood, California where my wife, Onalee, and I were born in the same hospital, St. Francis. I lived in Southgate, California and she lived in Downey but we both went to school in the Downey school district. We both went to West Junior High and Warren High School. I played trumpet in the marching band and she sang in the chorus. We married shortly after she graduated from high school. We have 2 children, David and Kimberlee. We discovered that David had Muscular Dystrophy and the doctors said he would not live past his teens. I guess he proved them wrong because he just turned 37.

Kimberlee married Jeff Upcraft and moved to Germany where he was stationed in the Army. Our granddaughter, Ashlee was born there. They were divorced and the girls came home to live with us. Kim married Danny Jones and our grandson, Jacob was born. They bought the house where my Grandmother and then my Mom and Dad lived, in Costa Mesa, California.

My mother, Kathleen Minkler, passed away after a bout with lung cancer in 1991. My Dad, Don Minkler, passed away in 2001.

We currently live in Downey, California, and spend most of our time taking care of David but enjoy movies, music, gardening, and enjoying our pets. We have Rudy, an African Grey Parrot who talks and makes all types of sounds and whistles. Our newest addition to our family is Lucy, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. She is 4 1/2 months old. She keeps us very busy but gives us all lots of love.
