Tuesday, October 2: The cross-country running team’s end-of-season Awards Banquet and Potluck! Plan to attend this fun and informal get-together with runners and families beginning at 6 p.m. in the East High Commons. That potluck part means you should bring a dish to share with 8 to 10 folks. Here are the assignments: Freshmen – side or main dish; Sophomores – side or main dish; Juniors – salad or dessert; Seniors – bread/rolls or cold drinks. Serious and silly awards will be presented, photos will be shared, and highlights of the season will be celebrated. Coordinator of the event, Ken Kugel, will happily put you to work if you can arrive early (4:30 on) to help set up, or if you can stick around afterwards for clean-up. Congratulations to Jaime Bronga on qualifying for the Sept. 29 State Championship race. She’ll compete against the state’s top Division 4A girls 2:15 p.m. on the Palmer High School trails. Jaime would love the support of her East team members and families if you can make it to the race.
The slate of East High Cross Country Running Booster Club officers for the 2008/2009 season likely will be discussed, presented, and/or voted upon at the Oct. 2 banquet. It’s not yet known who will serve another term if asked politely, but for sure the treasurer position will be open.
